About

The Lincoln Land Review is LLCC’s online student literary, academic, and arts journal. Published in a digital WordPress format, the Review showcases student writing, artwork, photography, graphic design, and digital media for the college community and the general public.

The journal publishes excellent student work in several categories, including scholarly essays, creative nonfiction, short fiction, poetry, fine art, graphic art, and photography. Faculty may recommend strong student essays, term papers, creative writing, and artwork for consideration, but students from any course or program are also welcome to submit their work directly to the editors. Final publication decisions are made by the Lincoln Land Review editorial staff.

The Review builds on LLCC’s long tradition of celebrating student writing and art. For 37 years, The Harvester featured exemplary essays written by LLCC composition students. From 1999 to 2006, The Ruptured Seed published poetry and short stories by LLCC students. The college has also continued to support student artists through annual exhibitions and campus arts events. The Lincoln Land Review brings these traditions together in a modern online format that makes student work easier to access, share, preserve, and promote.

As a digital journal, the Review allows us to publish student work in a more flexible and public-facing way. The website may include current and archived issues, featured student writing, artwork galleries, interviews, recorded readings, editor notes, submission information, and announcements about literary and arts events. This online format also gives students experience with contemporary publishing practices, including editing, digital presentation, accessibility, audience awareness, and web-based publication.

Each year, the editors may also sponsor writing and art contests connected to the journal, with recognition for outstanding work in categories such as essay, poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, fine art, photography, graphic art, and digital media.

Our goal is to continue showcasing the creative and academic excellence of Lincoln Land Community College students while expanding the journal into a more accessible, modern, and widely available digital publication.
